I Submitted To A Publication And Got Bounced
Believe me, when I thought of what to write about, this wasn't it.
I slept really early last night, and tho I often wake up in the middle of the night to use the toilet, I woke up earlier than usual.
It was past 1 when I woke up, so I thought to check if Pink Friday 2 was out already, forgetting Nigeria is about 6 hours ahead of America.
Anyway, it wasn't out and I didn't quite feel like going back to bed yet, even tho I reminded myself that I needed to be up before 8 a.m. today, which will only most likely happen if my eyes are shut around the hours of 1 - 4. Chances are slim now.
In my "wokeness" I decided to check my email, something I randomly do for no particular reason.
Alright, let's trace back a bit.
Sometime in November, I wrote a short story of about 2,000 words and submitted it to a publication, tho the required word limit was 1,500.
I know, I screwed up, and believe me, I didn't think I would win because of that error, but I had hoped that they would see what a beautiful story I wrote and maybe ask to publish it outside the contest.
Did you know that in stuff like this, once you don't meet any of the requirements, you're screened out without a reading chance?????
I didn't know that!!!!!
Well, I was screened out. They took the trouble of sending me a "sorry we are unable to…" email.
Quite nice of them actually. I mean, I can stop being hopeful with them on this matter.
Anyway, I had intended to make sure that my story, that particular one, gets read with or without their publication.
We were supposed to write a creative story about the injustice done to people in the society, either because of their gender, age, or sexuality, and I can proudly tell you, I did a good job.
You think I'm blowing hot air?
Well, check it out yourself.
Also, let me know if you've got any experience with submitting for publications.
Oh, don't forget to follow and subscribe so you never miss out on my writings.
And I would appreciate it if you do an encouraging deed of clapping for this piece if you liked it, I'd like to know that you did.
And…
I have made the story available for free, but I would appreciate whatever token you drop in by clicking the ‘Pay Me’ icon.
Thank you, till next time….
