OFF THE HOOK EP:6 The Reveal

April 19, 2023, two days after Elo and I’s anniversary. I had gone to spend the day with Chinelo in her one-bedroom apartment. She was working on a new dress for a client. She always was because she was good at it.

“This is what she wants,” Chinelo was showing me a Pinterest picture on her phone, “but she's a bit on the big size, so if I give her that gathering on her midriff like in that picture, she'll hate herself” she laughed.

I could see what she was saying, just as I could see the WhatsApp text that popped up. The contact’s name was saved as ‘Elo’ and the text read “It’s our anniversary too, you know”

“So instead, I'll bring it a bit higher….” Chinelo's voice slowly vanished as she walked to the other room.

Curious and anxious to prove my suspicions wrong, I clicked on the text.

The display picture was the same as my Elo’s. From the date shown above the text, this was his first text to her since the year started. I felt relieved. But what anniversary was he talking about?

That was when I scrolled up to their previous chats and there were so many. Some were deleted

“I hear you’re dating my friend now.” It was one of Chinelo’s texts to Elo.

“Yeah. As you no gree for me na” was his response.

“So are you dating her because I no gree or because you love her?” (Chinelo)

“Both 😅” (Elo)

“Wetin this one dey talk?” (Chinelo)

“See eh, sex with you was mad!!! Your friend is pretty, no doubt, but she no fit ride like you, you get?” (Elo)

“Elo, you love her, abi you no love her?” (Chinelo)

“Babe chill. We just start to date. I go know in the process” (Elo)

“Hmm, I know why I dey ask oo. Because if you break her heart, I go break your head” (Chinelo)

“Babe leave that thing. Na my bed I want make you break” (Elo)

“Oga focus on your gf” (Chinelo)

“Ehn, one last time. I no fit commot you from my mind like that na” (Elo)

“So you wan knack again. Even as you dey date my friend” (Chinelo)

“Make am my early bachelor party gift” (Elo)

“😂😂😂 You no well” (Chinelo)

“I'm serious” (Elo)

Then there was a picture of what's supposed to be Elo's dick with the text “See wetin you dey do me”

Then there was a view once image that has been opened.

“Damn girl! I want those tits in my mouth” (Elo)

“What do you think?” I could hear Chinelo’s voice in the room again, and I realized my lips were slightly parted.

“What?” I quickly said, trying to stay calm.

“Egusi or Okro, which one should I eat tonight?”

She was standing by at the small passage between the toilet and the kitchen in a ragged bum short and sleeveless crop top. Her boobs were pointing out and straight at me.

I drew a breath, a shaky one, and got up on my feet, minimized and cleared her WhatsApp history, collected my bag from the table, and said, “I’ve got to go.”

“Is everything alright?”

“Yeah. I just remembered I have something to do”.

“Oh, ok. Text me when you get home then”

“Sure.” I smiled faintly and walked to the door but stopped, turned around, and said, “Send me the finished result”.

She looked at me with squinted eyes, not sure of what I was talking about, till I nudged my head to where her sewing machine was.

“Oh,” she scoffed, “no yawa”.

Then I walked out and shut the door.
