‘Remorse’
I recalled my sins
it's time I redeemed myself
Holy Saturday! It's got to be perfect timing.
What do I say when my knees meet hell and my face now to keep my eyes from thy holy light?
My poor sufferable soul wanders far and wide
For words to show my atonement, I have none.
"Forgive me father for I have sinned"... Greatly. I must say greatly.
My penance should be more than a prayer
My retribution more than Paul’s
My plea more than words
I should weep as they did in the past stain my body with ash, and wail for mercy.
For if sin is a barrier between us and the creator, mine has been built with steel.

But his words, aren’t they more powerful than steel?
His touch, aren’t they more gentle than a baby’s?
His love, isn't it purer than gold?
And his anger, slow as a snail?
An open arm he keeps, your contrite your redemption.
