“When we get to that bridge, we’ll cross it”.

That’s a popular phrase we’ve all used at some point in our lives, actually, it makes it to my top 3 most used phrases.

You want to go on a trip, but you aren’t fully funded, or you’re worried about how to pay for some school bills if you used the money for breakfast, or how you’ll pay your rent if you bought your girl a birthday gift instead.

Any of these instances or similar ones can make you just throw in that phrase.

“When we get to the bridge, well cross it” most often is not a statement of someone with a plan. I know I say it when I’m clueless and just don’t want to think about what’s ahead, and my statistics show that under the same circumstances, you do the same.

Or maybe you’re an organized person so you’ll make a plan instead of just hoping to wing it. Yeah, anyway this isn’t for you.

Back to you who’s my soul sibling in this category.

Don’t get me wrong, deciding to not think of what’s ahead at some point in your life and just hope to get by, is not a bad thing, well, unless hope stopped being fickle and became a crime. It doesn’t mean you’re lazy or unintelligent either.

What it means, aside from being hopeful of course, is that you’re choosing at that moment, to remain sane, and get mad later, IF the need arises, and most times it doesn’t arise. (You should know, you’ve been there).

It means that you understand the natural order of things… THERE'S ALWAYS A LOPEHOLE (drumrolls).

It means that you have come to the understanding that opportunity doesn’t knock once and is gone forever, well except if you’re the type to lay in bed all day, then this isn’t for you too.

Recently, like every other graduate once did, I’ve found myself running my project. Yes, I’m writing it myself, not the first to do it, but I’m doing it so yeah…

Before now, I’d heard whispers about how tough it gets. Not that I didn’t believe it, but that I chose to believe it couldn’t be that hard.

Cos here’s the thing, often when people talk, they are trying to sell you something, not necessarily for cash, but for their…well, self-deceit.

Yes, self-deceit because the moment they get you to dim your eyes and nod your head, they know they’ve got you, just like I know I’ve got you on this one.

it’s not always a voluntary act, but it happens, and when it does, you make them (us) feel like they’re spitting bars, and when you’re high you don’t want to go down, so instead, once you’re hooked, exaggeration begins to waltz in, and who doesn’t like a good hype?

Doesn’t matter if the subject is black or white, so long as you can hype it, you can sell it (a little business tip, you’re welcome).

Back to base.

So I felt, all the whispers were exaggerations, and I’m not here to tell you otherwise, but here’s the thing, there are always unplanned or unforeseen circumstances in life, so no matter how good or bad a planner you are, something will always come up, and sometimes, it’ll piss you off.

But you don’t want to be an angry person, cos one less angry person on the planet and we might not have to worry about global warming and racism.

What you what to do, is face whatever spaghetti life throws at you, eat what you can, and let the rest fall off.

You need to learn to be content with and in whatever moment you live in, to accept that what’s happening was meant to happen and you’re gonna find a way out, and you only find if you look.

You live with this mindset, and tough or hard begins to seem brittle or crunchy. It’s not soft, but it's neither hard.
